2009 – 2010 Beginnings

In 2009, she won first place in the Pledis Competition but was not selected for the 9-member After School girl group, instead her best friend E-Young became a member of the group.

He graduated from Seoul Music High School in 2010 and studied music. He contributed to the track “Love Love Love” on Happy Pledis’ first single.

2012 – 2013

Yoo Ara debuted with the girl group Hello Venus on May 8, 2012 with their song “Venus” and their first mini-album. Yoo Ara is the leader and lead singer of the group. They released another single with Hello Venus titled “Like a Wave” on July 4. The girls made a comeback on December 12 with “Oneul Mwohae?”, which means “What Are You Doing Today?” with They even made a music video for Romantic Love from the album. 

2014 – 2015

In 2014, Ara decided to leave Hello Venus along with fellow member Yoonjo. On February 11, 2015, it was revealed that Yoo Ara will play the female lead in the Japanese musical adaptation “Moon Embracing the Sun”. The musical will open at Theater BRAVA in Osaka and U-Port Hall in Tokyo in April.
