EARLY YEARS (1992-2006)

Demetria was born Devonne Lovato on August 20, 1992, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His father is engineer and musician Patrick Martin Lovato († 1960-June 22, 2013), his mother is former dancer and country singer Dianna De La Garza. Lovato has an older brother, Dallas, and a younger half-sister, Madison De La Garza. In 2012, it was revealed that the singer has an older half-sister from her father’s side, Amber, whom she saw for the first time at the age of 20.

Lovato had a characteristic smile from an early age

Lovato’s parents divorced in the summer of 1994, when she was two years old. His father is Mexican, but he also had Portuguese and Jewish ancestry, while his mother boasts English, Irish and Italian relatives. In February 2017, he had a DNA test done, which revealed that in addition to Spanish and American genes, he also has Scandinavian, Irish, British and African blood in his veins. He did not really keep in touch with his father: they first saw each other again in 2008.

Demi grew up in Dallas. Here, he won several talent shows, so it soon became clear that he was extremely talented.
He began his studies at the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District, then continued his studies at Cross Timbers Middle School, where he attended music classes for three years. That’s when music started to preoccupy me more. Just like today, when Demi was at school, there was a lot of bullying at school. The young girl was teased a lot, so her parents were forced to send their daughter to school as a private student. In 2011, she revealed that she had an “unhealthy relationship with life” since the age of 8, which can be traced back to, among other things, abuse: several people called her fat and ugly.

Demit was attracted to the stage from a very young age. She attended acting classes, did ballet and tried her luck at auditions. At the age of 5, when he could neither read nor write, he auditioned for the children’s show Barney & Friends. His mother helped him by drawing small stick figures on the edge of the paper, trying to hide this deficiency. But despite great efforts, the role did not come together. Two years later, in 2002, when he reached school age, he tried again, as he had never given up on his dreams. After a long wait and many disappointments, she got the role of Angela. Demi was a member of the cast for two seasons, after which she continuously took singing, acting, dancing and piano lessons to develop her talent.
After Barney, his talent was noticed, he got smaller and bigger roles in series, such as e.g. In 2006, Szökés, or Just Jordan.

CAMP ROCK & DON’T FORGET (2007-2008)

He started working for the Disney Channel in 2007. She was first cast as Charlette Adams in a short series, As the Bell Rings, where she also sang. By the way, she received several rejections for roles at Disney, and then one evening they called the actress to say that they were thinking of her as a guard at Rock Camp, and that their new series, Sonny, the star candidate, would soon start.

Demi and Joe Jonas at the beginning of their careers in 2007

Lovato got the main role in both productions, so she could start on the bumpy road to fame and notoriety.
Rocktábor premiered on June 20, 2008, and was watched by about 8.9 million viewers. The soundtrack came out three days earlier, but its success was overshadowed by High School Musical. Lovato received mixed reviews from Entertainment Weekly, criticizing her smile among other things. Despite this, the film was a huge success worldwide and Lovato developed his own fan base.

This summer, she launched her first self-titled tour, Demi Live! It was called the Warm Up tour, but he also appeared on the Jonas Brothers’ Burnin’ Up tour.

Despite the success of HSM, the soundtrack successfully sold one million copies in the USA, so Demi signed a contract with Hollywood Records, and in the fall of 2008 she released her first solo album, called Don’t Forget. The record received positive reviews among listeners, but Entertainment Weekly still claimed that it would not win the appreciation of adults.

His film partners, the Jonas Brothers, helped in writing the songs on the CD, and there is also a joint song on it. It debuted at number two on the Billboard Hot 200 with sales of 89,000.

Don’t Forget was certified gold by the RIAA after reaching half a million sales. Its lead single, Get Back, was a true pop-rock song, peaking at number 43 on the Hot 100, selling over 560,000 copies in the US. The second single, La La Land, had a much rockier sound, debuted at number 52, but was nevertheless loved by young people worldwide. The album’s third single was the title track Don’t Forget.

In 2008, the first rumors that Lovato was hurting herself (her wrist was injured at several events) started to spread. Demi called the news ridiculous and said that only the rubber bracelets that were in fashion at the time suppressed her hands.

SONNY, THE STAR NOMINEE & HERE WE GO AGAIN (2009-2010)

In 2009, Lovato participated in Disney’s charity program, where she and her friends, the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez, recorded the single Send It On, with all proceeds supporting Disney’s foundations worldwide.

In the same year, he debuted in his first lead series, Sonny, the star candidate, in which he played the aspiring actress Sonny Munroe. The series ran for two seasons and was the first production to air on Disney HD. The Los Angeles Times called Lovato’s acting skills very good.

In June, he filmed his new film, The Princess Protection Program, in which he portrayed a royal scion who had fled his country, and his acting partner was his best friend at the time, Selena Gomez. It is one of Disney’s most successful films, with about 8.9 million viewers at its first screening in the United States.

Thanks to the huge interest, Rock Camp 2. – Closing party was filmed in September, which garnered 8 million views. The soundtrack disc for this film has also been released. In 2010, she was honored with a part-time role in the hit accident series, The Grace Clinic, where she played Hayley May. He also won an award at the People’s Choice Awards for his performance.

Lovato’s second album was titled Here We Go Again and was released on July 21, 2009. Here he adopted a much more acoustic sound, compared to John Mayer. The reviews were quite divisive, with many preferring the pop-rock sound of Don’t Forget. Despite this, the album became No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart, with sales of around 108,000. Before the release, he started the Summer tour.

The album’s first single was Here We Go Again, but it only reached number 59 on the Hot 100 in its first week, and later climbed to number 15. His second and last single was Remember December.

His first real tour was with Here We Go Again, as he played shows in forty cities nationwide. They set off on June 21 and finished on August 21. Artists such as David Archuleta, KSM and Jordan Pruitt have opened for him. In March 2010, Lovato and Joe Jonas recorded a charity song, titled Make a Wave, also in aid of Disney’s Friends for Change.

After that, he toured North America with the Jonas Brothers Live in Concert, making this his first international tour.

The premiere of the second part of Rocktábor took place on September 3, but the fans had a mixed feeling about the story: only the film received about 40% satisfaction. Despite this, around 8 million people followed the events on the debut night. The soundtrack debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 200.

In 2010, he left his series, with which his acting career began to take a break, due to private and personal reasons.

UNBROKEN & X-FACTOR (2011-2012)

It turned out that Lovato was struggling with several mental problems during the filming of Sonny, the candidate for the star, and eventually the rumors turned out to be true, he was indeed abusing himself and also struggled with eating disorders. Around this time, the singer was surrounded by several scandals: she attacked her personal assistant before a show, and several intimate photos also came to light. Demi went to rehab during the hiatus, which made the world a lot of news.

After her emotional crisis, the singer returned with a new look and a new label: she moved from Hollywood Records to Island. Demi looked much healthier in the series of photos for her third album and has also put on a few pounds. His LP was called Unbroken and was released on September 20, 2011. The record contained elements of R&B and pop-rock. It clearly became the most successful album of his career at the time, bringing him international hits.

She’s back with renewed strength: Demi Lovato has been unbroken since 2012

It debuted as No. 4 on the Hot 200 list with sales of 97,000, but soon this number exceeded half a million, earning it a gold certification.

2012 was the first year he was completely sober and not under the influence of any drugs or alcohol.
The song’s first single, Skyscraper, showcased Lovato’s struggles and carried a universal message of acceptance. It became 10th on the Billboard Hot 100 list, but sold 176,000 copies in the first week. Many celebrities supported the renewed Lovato and its message. With the song, he also won his first VMA in the Best Message category.

Unbroken brought personal songs like For the Love of a Daughter (which was about her father) and Unbroken. This is where Lovato spoke for the first time about her father and their problems. In addition, several collaborations were heard on it: Missy Elliott, Timbald, Dev and Jason Derülo, among others.

The second and last single from the record was Give Your Heart a Break, which almost surpassed the success of Skyscraper. The song was certified triple platinum by the RIAA in October 2014.

In May, after a long absence, she returned to the screen: she was a judge in the second season of the American X-Factor alongside Simon Cowell, Britney Spears and LA Reid. Here, Lovato mentored the Young Adult category.

On December 24, 2012, he posted a video on his YouTube channel singing Angels Amon Us, which he sent to the victims who lost their lives in the Sandy Hook school shooting.

In March 2013, it was confirmed that he would return for the third season of The X Factor, and his salary was said to have doubled.

DEMI & GLEE (2013-2014)

The singer already started working on her new album in 2012, the first song of which was promised for December. However, its debut was postponed until March of the new year. Heart Attack became one of Lovato’s most successful songs, and was on the Top 10 list for weeks.

The LP was called Demi and was released on May 10, 2013, with a much poppier sound than the previous ones. It received generally positive reviews, with The New York Times describing Lovato’s transformation as positive and entertaining.

Although there are quite a few bubblegum pops on the disc, the personal songs were not left out: it is worth checking out the lyrics of Warrior, In Case, Shouldn’t Come Back and Nightingale.

It sold 110,000 copies in the first week, making it the best-selling album of Lovato’s career, and later she was certified gold. On June 11, his e-book, Demi, was published on iBooks.

His second single was Made in the USA, but it only debuted at number 80 on the Hot 100. Demi’s third single was Neon Lights, which was an international success, as was Heart Attack.

The fourth single was Really Don’t Care, which also featured British singer Cher Lloyd (the only collaboration with her on the record). The music video supported the LGBT community.

Lovato later released a deluxe version of the record, which contained seven tracks, including four live and three studio tracks. One of them featured Olly Murs, it was Up. He contributed to the soundtrack of the film Bone City with the song Heart by Heart.

It has been announced that she will star alongside Adam Lambert in the fifth season of Glee. The singer only appeared in three episodes, while Lambert appeared in five. Lovato played the love interest of Sanatana Lopez (Naya Rivera) as Dani, an up-and-coming and struggling singer from New York.

Her first real book, Demi Lovato: Be Strong – 365 Days – One Year, was published on November 19 and was published worldwide. The book became a New York Times bestseller. In the book, we get inspirational quotes and advice from Lovató for every day of the year.

He announced another tour, the Neon Lights tour, which included Canada, on September 29, 2013. The singer started on February 9, 2014 and ended on May 17. On October 21, Let It Go was released, which was included on the CD of the Disney movie Frozen. The accompanying music video has already been viewed nearly half a billion times on YouTube.
In the same year, he returned to the screens and once again sat in the mentor’s chair in the American X-Factor. During the season, she judged the up-and-coming singers alongside Kelly Rowland, Paulina Rubio and Simon Cowell. However, he did not participate in the fourth season of the X-Faktor.

He collaborated on The Vamps’ song Sobebody to You, and on May 29 he announced his fourth tour, his first around the world, the Demi World Tour. He first gave concerts in North America, then in the UK and Europe. Also in November of this year, he was the opening act on Enrique Iglesias’ Sex and Love tour.

In December, she released her own skin care collection, Devonne by Demi, which is still very successful among young people.

He released a music video for his song Nighingale as a Christmas gift to his fans.

CONFIDENT (2015-2016)

In October 2015, Lovato burst into the music industry again with a big comeback. His fifth studio album, Confident, was released on October 16, 2015, to the delight of his fans. The tracklist for the album was announced by her famous friends on Twitter, one by one. It debuted in second place on the Billboard 200 chart and sold 98,000 copies in one week. In July 2015, the album’s first single, Cool for The Summer, was released, which was intended to be one of the hottest songs of the summer. He performed it at the MTV Video Music Awards in August.

The woman: showed a different side of Confident

In September, the music video for the song Confident was released, in which his Deadly Pace actress, Michelle Rodriguez, also appeared. He participated in Fall Out Boy’s song called Irresistible, for which a short film was also made.

The reception of Confident was otherwise positive by both critics and listeners. Lovato revealed that she really wanted to get a Grammy nomination with her and show what her voice can do. “I started recording during the tour because the plan came together in my head. Sound is who I am now and everything I want to be,” he declared. “I’m never sure of myself as an artist, so with this record I want to radiate confidence, and not only in personal things, but also in my sound. I want to show people that I can do it.”

The record was also certified gold by the RIAA in July 2016. In the same year, he launched his own label, under Island, with Nick Jonas and his manager, Phil McIntyre. The label was named Safehouse Records. The UMG/Hollywood/Jonas Brother partnership has thus ended permanently, so Lovato’s career is now managed only by Island and her own label.

On October 17, he performed Cool for the Summer, Confident and Stone Cold on Saturday Night Live. In the same month, she signed with a modeling agency, Wilhelmina Models.

He released his song Waiting for You with Sirah at the end of the month on the 22nd. On the 26th, they and Nick Jonas announced the launch of their Future Now tour, the first stop of which was June 29, in Atlanta. (The tour was originally supposed to take place with Adam Lambert, but the singer was later replaced by Nick Jonas. Lambert said that despite this, he maintains a good friendship with Lovato and they exchange messages several times a week.)

She was honored with the Rulebreaker award on December 11, 2015 at the Billboard Women in Music event.
The tour was successful worldwide, arenas were filled with Nick Jonas. They took turns on stage, but did not perform a single recording together.

In July 2018, the singer was hospitalized with a drug overdose. After almost losing his life, he went into retreat again in August and retired for a while. He said in a statement that he was grateful for the support and that he was alive. He returned to social media in 2019.

Smurfs do not fade. One is smart, the other is clever, the third is pretty, the fourth stumbles in everything – and most of them want to be cooked by a wizard named Hocuszpók, a bit ambidextrous, but with a reputation for being a big cat lover. A new, even greater danger lurks in their world of Hupik, and Smurfette’s best friends, Smurfpapa, Smurfette, Smurfette, Dulifuli and Okoska embark on a great expedition to save those in trouble. But they only get involved in more adventures… and they can hardly get out of the mess.
