Ashley Elizabeth Ann Newbrough was born on October 13, 1987, in Newport, Rhode Island, and later moved to Ontario, Canada with her parents and siblings. Ashley’s father, Greg Newbrough, was a captain in the United States Marine Corps. His mother, Karen, is Canadian, so Ash grew up in Canada. He has two sisters. He went to high school at St. Benedicts Catholic Secondary School in Cambridge. Wilfrid Laurier University’s football stadium is named after his grandfather, Rich Newbrough, who previously coached at the school. Ashley is of Jewish descent on her father’s side.

He started his career at the age of 10, in commercials. He got his first role in the Fox Family Channel series The Zack Files in 2000. In 2002, she appeared in the movie Get a Clue starring Lindsay Lohan. From 2003 to 2005, he was a member of the staff of the Canadian series Radio Free Roscoe. Meanwhile, in 2004, he was seen in the main role in the film The Coven.
